Born in Westchester, New York, Alana Norell Baum has always had an eye for creativity. She began making jewelry at the age of twelve at summer camp in Maine. Alana continued to pursue her passion throughout her academic education by taking private lessons, various jewelry classes, and devoting her time learning from jewelry experts in the field. It has always given her pleasure to produce unique and original jewelry creations for others to enjoy. She graduated from the University of Vermont with an Anthropology major, and always found a way to relate her cultural studies to jewelry and art.
Alana’s studies opened her mind to various cultural styles both ancient and contemporary. Her love of traveling throughout the world continuously allows her to experience this first hand. She continued her education at the Gemological Institute of America in New York City, where she received her Graduate Gemology Diploma and became an Accredited Jewelry Professional. Designing and creating Jewelry allows Alana to express herself while amalgamating her studies of jewelry, diamonds, and gemstones with her perspectives of art and jewelry design. The materials, shapes, and colors she chooses enable her to form original pieces of wearable art.
Presently living in New York City allows Alana Norell to observe every aspect of fashion while being immersed in the jewelry industry. She uses this special city as a showcase to exhibit and sell her designs, while creating relationships with boutiques, galleries, and fashion websites throughout the world. Alana also works with individual customers to create their own unique custom jewelry. She finds great joy in being able to share in the process of making the perfect jewelry piece for you or a loved one. Her experience and the gift for predicting what is next, has allowed her to grow and create what is new and in fashion, as well as classic pieces that will forever be in style.
